THE DAVIS MILITARIA
SVT Rifles
The SVT played a key role in the GERMAN development of a semi-automatic rifle. Large numbers of SVT38s and SVT40s were captured by the Wehrmacht in the opening weeks of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. Photo evidence is common showing German troops using these Soviet rifles than the Soviets themselves.
The German contemporary to the SVT was the G41. Despite a well designed action, the G41 suffered from a poorly designed gas operating system. After unsuccessful attempts to design their own, purely German selbstladegewehr (self-loading rifle), the Nazi engineers swallowed their pride, and married the action of the G41 to a gas system designed from the Soviet SVT, and created the G43 (later the K43).
This piece is a vet bring back (NOT an import), in excellent original condition with the correct bayonet.
